‘Blind Side’ Makes Actress Re-Think Christianity

November 28th, 2009

Actress Sandra Bullock, who plays the lead role, said she was initially reluctant to work with Leigh Anne since she’d has had less than positive experiences with Christians.

“People use it [Christianity] as a banner, and then they don’t do the right thing,” she told Straight.com.

However, Bullock later had a change of heart.

“I feel I have finally met someone who practices but doesn’t preach,” she said. ”I now have faith in those who say they represent a faith.”

So why did the couple reach out to Oher?

“Because he needed some clothes. That’s all it really was. Then he needed a place to sleep. The depths of need never stopped. And she got so far into it, she couldn’t get out of it. And she fell in love with him,” Sean Tuohy told the Chronicle.

Faith, Not Feelings, Pleases God
by Rick Warren

“Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised” (Job 1:21 NIV).

When you are a baby Christian, God gives you a lot of confirming emotions and often answers the most immature, self-centered prayers—so you’ll know He exists. But as you grow in faith, He will wean you of these dependencies.

God’s omnipresence and the manifestation of His presence are two different things. One is a fact; the other is often a feeling. God is always present, even when you are unaware of Him, and His presence is too profound to be measured by mere emotion.

Yes, He wants you to sense His presence, but He’s more concerned that you trust Him than that you feel Him. Faith, not feelings, pleases God.
